The Best Blush for Mature Skin Spring and Summer 2020

In this week’s edition of March Makeup Madness, I’m featuring 4 amazing blushes that will create a beautiful glow on mature skin.

I have included both cream and powder blushes in this post because I have used each one and found they work beautifully even on dry skin!

Also, another factor to consider is the price. I wanted to make sure that there was something available for all price ranges and that the quality wasn’t compromised!

So, after testing and reviewing many products these were the top four blushes that made the list.

Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Puff

Glossier’s Cloud Paint is a cream blush. It is soft and melts easily into your skin! This sheer blush comes in several shades so you can find one that works with your skin tone. I have chosen the shade Puff because it has a nice pinky rose tint to it.

I find this sheer blush to be a great choice for an everyday look, especially during the spring and summer months! It is such a natural look that it’s hard to tell you are wearing any at all!

Nars blush in Amour

Nars also has a lovely powder blush that glides easily onto the skin. I chose the shade Amour because of its lovely bright pink color! Another cult favorite shade is Orgasm which has more of a peachy color to it. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

Many experts would say that mature skin should stick with cream blushes, but even with my dry skin, this blush looks and feels natural on the skin!

Milani blush in Romantic Rose

Milani has a gorgeous powder blush that gives the skin a sun-kissed look! Frankly, I wear this blush year-round to give my skin a vibrant and healthy glow! The shade Romantic Rose is my general go-to from Milani, however, I know they have several other shades to choose from.

Revlon Master Contouring Palette in light to medium

Finally, Revlon has a Master Contouring palette that I have been using non-stop for over a year now. It contains a blush that has a natural rose pink shade that complements the contouring colors perfectly. This palette comes in a couple of shade options, but I tend to stick with the light to medium shade based on my skin tone. Many times even if I choose not to contour my face, I will decide to use the blush because of it’s natural glowy look.

Things to consider

There are a couple of factors to consider when deciding on the best blush for your skin. One factor is your skin tone. What is your natural coloring? It’s important to choose a color that would natural to your overall appearance.

Which blush is best for me?

I have found it is very helpful to test the makeup before I actually purchase it. If at all possible, apply the blush to your face and wear it around for the day. Be sure to see how it looks on your skin in different lighting. How long it lasts on your skin. Also, does it cause your skin to look dried out or oily? Many times we won’t know the answers to those questions without giving the product a test run for several hours! There have been several instances that I was happy with a product in the store but later disappointed by the time I got it home simply because the lighting had changed or it had time to settle into my skin.

A second factor in finding a blush that you love is to consider what you will be wearing for the day. A lot of times that color of clothing near the face can affect the way your makeup looks as well. So, I try to think through my clothing options for the day before I’m applying my makeup. Or, I will use a very natural-looking palette for my makeup for the day so that it will go with just about anything I am wearing.

Where do I apply blush?

The best way to apply powder or cream blush is to the apple of your checks. Make sure that you blend the color into your skin and draw the color back and up towards your temple. You don’t want your blush to sit on the apple of your checks like a circle. You can use a fluffy brush or even your fingers to blend it into your skin using a circular motion. The goal would be a natural glowy effect.

How much blush do I apply?

It is best to start with a light application and build it up only if needed. You can load your brush by dipping it lightly into the blush and applying it to your face. Then blend it into your skin and assess how it looks.

Also, once you are dressed you may want to recheck your makeup. At that point, you may want to add another layer of blush to your face if you feel like your outfit has caused your makeup to look washed out. Then you can use a sheer powder or setting spray to set your look for the day.

Of all the blushes that I tested, I have continued to use these four on a regular basis. Furthermore, they seamlessly transition from one season into the next.

I hope this has given you some helpful information! I’d love to hear your thoughts, questions or feedback in the comments below! Or if there is anything you’d like for me to talk about here on Lululoves7 I’d love to hear those ideas too!

Happy shopping friends!
